Western Sydney University

With the motto “Western is Best” as a growing university reflecting the new centre of Advance Manufacturing in Sydney, NSW State and Australia, the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing Technology (CfAMT) at School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment (SoEDBE), Western Sydney University (Western) was established with its missions:

(a) to develop and maintain the leadership and scholarship of Western Sydney University (WSU) on Advanced Manufacturing in Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Region working with external organisations; and

(b) contribute to industrial transformation and sustainable development of local manufacturing industry via adopting advanced manufacturing technologies in GWS.

CfAMT has its main technical focuses on research, product development and education of frontier technologies of Industry 4.0, including Advanced Manufacturing (AM), Internet of Things (IoT), Advanced Sensor Technologies, Advanced Robotic technologies, etc. and it has four following research streams (4A):

  1. Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Computer Aided Engineering/Digital Twin, and Business Model Development

  2. Advanced Engineering Materials and Defence Technology

  3. Automation and Robotics

  4. Advanced Manufacturing Education and Training

CfAMT has the core and associate members across the Schools at Western Sydney University including SoEDBE, School of Science (SoSc), School of Business (SoBus) and School of Medicine (SoM) and across disciplines including Mechanical, Mechatronic and Robotics, Civil and Environmental, Electrical & Electronics, Industrial Design, Construction Management, etc. It has the following research strengths and capabilities:
