Research Lead Program 3: Technology and process development

From the lab to the factory floor, Dr Daniel East is focused on making advanced manufacturing technologies work in practice. As Research Lead for Program 3, he drives the development of processes that enable additive manufacturing at scale. At CSIRO, he leads a multidisciplinary team working on alloy design, robotic additive systems and powder technologies. Daniel focuses on translating research into commercial applications, working closely with industry partners to expand the use of additive manufacturing across sectors. His experience includes developing materials for extreme environments, from mining to space, and contributing to long-term research strategies that drive innovation, sustainability and industrial capability.
