Research Program 4 focuses on post-processing, surface engineering and repair technologies that enhance the performance, durability and functionality of additively manufactured components.

The program explores advanced finishing techniques, coatings and additive repair processes that extend component life and enable on-site remanufacturing and repair, particularly in sectors such as defence, mining, energy and critical minerals processing.

By improving surface performance and repair capabilities, the program helps industry partners unlock new value from additive manufacturing across the entire product lifecycle.
